How to choose a two-wheel tractor
- Engine. 420 cc petrol or 418 cc diesel, both 14 hp, with electric key start and a recoil starter as back-up. Petrol is the simpler one to live with; diesel burns less fuel on long days of rotavating and flailing and holds its revs better under load.
- Wheels or tracks. Pneumatic wheels for level ground and for towing the trailer; rubber tracks for slopes, wet ground and freshly worked soil, with grip and without compacting it. For ploughing hard ground add steel cage wheels and weights.
- Gearbox and transmission. Three forward and two reverse gears with a quick reverser: low for rotavating and ploughing, high for moving about with the trailer. The gears run in an oil bath, as on any heavy-duty two-wheel tractor; the differential lock keeps the machine straight in the furrow and climbing without wheel-spin.
- Reversible handlebars. Turn the handlebars through 180° and the implement works out front, the feature that marks out a professional pedestrian tractor: cutter bar, flail mower, lawn mower, sweeper and snow blower are pushed, rotavator and plough trail behind.
- Quick hitch. The 3-tooth quick hitch is the standard used by BCS, Ferrari and Pasquali: the female coupling is fitted to the tractor and every attachment is supplied with its male coupling, so you swap implements in minutes and keep using the ones you already have. For implements with a fine-spline (millerighe) coupling there is an adapter.
- Where it works. Large vegetable plot, orchard, vineyard, olive grove, paddock and woodland: wherever a tractor cannot get in or is not worth it, a 14 hp two-wheel tractor rotavates, ploughs, mows and hauls all year round, for the smallholder and the small farm alike.
Two-wheel tractor attachments, for other makes too
Every DELEKS® attachment comes with its own 3-tooth male quick-hitch coupling and fits DELEKS® two-wheel tractors and any other with a 3-tooth coupling; for two-wheel tractors with a fine-spline (millerighe) coupling there is an adapter, and with the second adapter fine-spline implements fit the DELEKS® tractor. All are optional extras, sold separately.
- Soil. Rotavator 80 or 100 cm (31 or 39 in) for tilling; single and reversible plough, single and double rotary plough; ridger; three-tine cultivator for weeding between rows; potato digger; power harrow with seeder.
- Grass. 120 cm (47 in) cutter bar, sickle bar mower style; flail mower 60 and 100 cm (24 and 39 in); 80 cm (31 in) lawn mower; 100 cm (39 in) mower deck with collector.
- Haulage and riding. Trailer with seat, or the sulky, a two-wheeled seat that hitches on behind.
- Yard and winter. 100 cm (39 in) sweeper, snow blade, snow blower.
- Traction. Steel cage wheels and weights for hard ground, PTO extension.
Rotavator or two-wheel tractor?
A garden rotavator, or tiller, has its tines fixed under the engine and does that one job: it costs less, but that is where it stops. A two-wheel tractor has driven wheels, a gearbox and a power take-off, and the rotavator is just one attachment alongside the cutter bar, the flail mower, the plough and the trailer. Anyone looking for a rotavator with a flail mower, or a tracked rotavator, is really looking for a two-wheel tractor.

Are the rotavator and cutter bar included?
No: the tractor is sold on its own with the female quick hitch fitted; each attachment is added to the order or later and arrives with its own male coupling.
Petrol or diesel?
For tilling the plot and a few hours of mowing the 14 hp petrol is plenty; for many days of work in a row the diesel uses less fuel and runs cooler.
Wheels or tracks?
Wheels on level ground and with the trailer; tracks on slopes, wet ground and freshly worked soil.
Can I use the BCS implements I already have?
Yes: with a 3-tooth coupling they fit straight on; fine-spline ones need the adapter.
Do DELEKS® attachments fit a two-wheel tractor of another make?
Yes: straight on to any two-wheel tractor with a 3-tooth coupling, and with the adapter on fine-spline (millerighe) ones.
Can I ride it?
Yes, two ways: on the trailer, which has a seat, or on the sulky, a two-wheeled seat hitched behind the tractor. That is what many people mean by a four-wheel two-wheel tractor.
Can I fit a flail mower to a garden rotavator?
No: a tiller has no power take-off. You need a two-wheel tractor.
How much power do I need?
14 hp drives the 100 cm (39 in) rotavator, the 100 cm flail mower, the 120 cm (47 in) cutter bar and the plough, even on hard ground: heavy-duty class power.
Used or new two-wheel tractor?
A used one is worth considering, but its condition depends on the hours it has really worked, and two-wheel tractors have no hour meter, on who used it and how. A used machine often hides repairs that only come to light after the purchase. A new two-wheel tractor carries a two-year warranty: there are no hidden problems.
How much does it weigh and how is it delivered?
The wheeled version weighs about 110 kg (243 lb); it ships by carrier and arrives ready to use.
